Gelling Agents
EB-21 • GP-1
EB-21 and GP-1 are highly effective oil gelling agents based on the amino acid, L-glutamic acid. They make nano-sized fiber networks (see pictures below) in liquid oils and macroscopically make hard oil gels. In the case of viscous oils such as polyisobutene, EB-21 and GP-1 act as viscosity modifiers producing viscous gels. There are no sensory changes to oil gels themselves since small amounts of EB-21 and GP-1 are needed to form gels.
